Iraq participates in meeting of Arab foreign ministers and a climate change summit

Iraq participated in the meeting of Arab foreign ministers and a climate change summit on the sidelines of meetings of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
He said a Foreign Ministry statement said: "The meeting of Arab foreign ministers discuss the unification and coordination of Arab positions during the 64 th session of the General Assembly."

He added: "The meeting hosted by President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, which present the results of his meetings with U.S. President Barack Obama, and the tripartite meeting the Palestinian - Israeli - American.

The statement said: "The Iraqi delegation headed by Hoshyar Zebari was also involved in climate change summit convened by the Secretary General of the United Nations with the participation of Heads of State and Governments of developed and developing countries."

He said: "The present at this meeting offered the procedures and steps to be taken by their governments to contribute to and participate in the face of global warming, desertification and environmental challenges and the use of clean energy."

He said: "Zebari displayed in a speech during a meeting of Iraq's policy in addressing environmental challenges and problems experienced by the negligence and omission of the former regime of its obligations regarding the International Convention".

Zebari said: "The Iraqi government approved and ratified the Kyoto Protocol and is committed to international conventions to assist and contribute with the international community in the face of global challenges."
