Ibrahim Gambari calling for restoring the "Calendar agreement" between Iraq and Kuwait

Called the Special Adviser to the United Nations on the International Compact with Iraq, Friday, to return "Calendar agreement" between Baghdad and Kuwait, urging Iraq to make the effort for re-integration with neighboring countries and the international community and devote all efforts to trade and investment issues and the environment, according to a statement of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait.
The statement that the Special Adviser to the United Nations, Ibrahim Gambari met Friday and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad al-Sabah, said that we should hold a meeting for (Baghdad Coordination Group) in early November next, and then wait for the basic steps after the elections in Iraq. "
According to the statement, both sides described the meeting as "good", and continued that "viewpoints were identical on the need to maintain the agreement of the Covenant, but with a re-evaluation that takes into account the changing realities," explaining that "in reference to the new security environment, including the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.
He noted that Gambari to its responsibilities, "focused mainly on the follow-up to the International Covenant in the political and economic dimensions," noting that "to neighboring countries, an important role in this context, it will try to continue it."
